Good Morning,
I have a present for you today! It’s your very own round tuit!! This incredibly useful item allows us to do all kinds of things we’ve been “meaning to get to”. As I was prayerfully pondering our current state of affairs last night before going to sleep, I thought “we can either focus on our lives being disrupted, or we can actually take advantage of this time and use it for our good and God’s glory.
While praying this morning, the following passage came to mind:
Ephesians 5:15–16 (ESV) — 15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
I guess that about sums it up. We have an opportunity to redeem an unwelcomed interruption to our lives, turning it into something positive.
It is times like this when we are forced to take a step back and see what and who are really important in our lives. A time to break out of our routine and begin to do some of those things we’ve been feeling nudged to be doing for the longest time. Like:
Family time. Having some fun together. Actually sitting down together and talking over a meal without the TV going. Spending one on one time together really talking and listening and getting to know each other better.
Home time. Those projects that keep getting pushed to the back burner, but might eliminate some of the stress around the house.
Outdoor time (with social distancing). Just taking a stroll and appreciating God’s creation, fresh air, the warming weather.
God time. What a great time to begin a regular time with the Lord if you don’t have one, or perhaps beginning a Bible reading program to read through the whole Bible or the New Testament. If you would like ideas on a reading plan or how to develop a prayer/devotional time, shoot me a text – it’s not really as simple as you might think. At least some of the time constraints of everyday life may now be in our favor.
Friend time. Not Facebook if you can help it. Actually call or Skype with people. Reconnect with old friends, start new ones – maybe checking in on a neighbor or someone in the church directory you don’t know well.
Other. You know what’s been nagging at you. Why not take my gift and get a round tuit. Let’s not let this time slip by and wish we had done something with it.
May the Lord bless you as you do!!
